Figures is an interactive and ever changing collaboration between Angela Vecchione, Christina Hughes, Taylor McGee, and the audience*. The interdisciplinary, one-night-only, event will be the first Hughes and Vecchione Dance Projects production for a live, in-person audience since 2019.

Figures explores six themes relating to the physicality of human body, (figure). Ability, aging, chorus line, crowd, digitize, and pain. Figures visualizes these themes through a dual lens— how do these concepts apply to our bodies in both physical and digital spaces?

Figures will be performed on March 12, 2022. This website will be projected as a backdrop for six unique dance pieces correlating to the themes of the six sections. Audience members will interact with this site to choose the order of the performances. A live stream option will also be available for audiences from afar to attend.

This website is being built by Taylor McGee of Twin Blush Studio. This site will act as the projected backdrop for the performances, and as a collaborative space that develops as the project unfolds and completes itself. Content on this website will be developed and sourced from the three artists involved, and the audience*.

As you click on each section, questions are poised regarding each theme with relation to the human body. Website viewers are prompted to answer these questions in a live response section. Responses to the questions are added as text to each section page. A living document of each of the themes is being created.

On February 1, website submissions will close. Using ideas generated through prior research and brainstorming in conjunction with ideas submitted via the website, Taylor will begin creating a video for each of the six sections. When completed, the video will sit at the top of each section page, above the previous discussions and context. At the performance in March, the video will be projected onto the dancers and will visually interact and engage the dancers’ figures.

We have set a fundraising goal of $10,000 to be able to support our collaborators and cover the costs of the venue, rehearsal space and Christina's travel for the show. If you are interested in supporting this project, you may do so via Venmo, PayPal, cash or check.
