AGING

How do you feel about aging? How old are you? Can you feel your body aging? Can you feel your mind aging? Are you unable to do things you were able to do when you were younger? Are you afraid to age? What do you think society's relationship to aging and bodies aging is?

Aging is totally underrated. Like holy moly, we've each gone around the sun this many times?! Think about how many things we've experienced in all of those orbits... and each one of them is entirely personal and unique. With all of those experiences come with a physical collection over time too-- scars, greying hair, maybe less mobility. We are more than our flesh sacks though and I think a lot of us exclusively correlate age with decreased physical ability. But like I said, aging is just however many times we've orbited and we give it a negative value but it's pretty arbitrary in my opinion. If anything, it just makes us more wise from those experiences.

I feel so lucky to be able to age and continue to be part of this world. I feel lucky to be part of my kids’ lives and hope I get to be for a long, long time. So if it means I have to deal with wrinkles and gray hair, I think I can handle that trade off. The only thing I’ll miss as I continue to age is my body being able to do the things it used to do. My body is already getting more prone to injury while dancing and I dread the day I won’t be able to dance at all anymore. So here’s to growing old and taking the absolute best care of myself…
